Skywalker, Pascal Martin driving, approaches the finish

Waglan 8-9-10-11

Three races for the IRC division, two for PHS, and 8 knots of wind from the northeast – lots to look forward to on Sunday, the 8th of February, as the boats made their way to the ‘Lamma Patch’, southeast of Lamma Island.

Wild Card, a clean sweep of all three races

Bang on 1100, seven racing machines swept across the start line and headed for a windward mark followed, five minutes later, by six cruisers, DBX2 in front. Thomas Wong and crew, however, didn’t have it all their own way in PHS A, losing out to Pascal Martin’s Skywalker in both Race 8 and Race 9. Shun Shui won PHS B, Race 8, but was pushed into 2nd behind Generations in Race 9.

In the ‘speedster’ divisions, Wild Card finished a minute ahead of Redeye in IRC 1’s first windward / leeward, Race 9. All same for Race 10 – Wild Card 1st and Redeye 2nd. Surprise, surprise, the finishing order for Race 11, IRC 1, was Wild Card 1st and Redeye 2nd. Well done Glenn Smith and crew and well done the Aberdeen Boat Club’s very own Kalina King, skipper of Redeye!

In the competitive IRC 2 division, Race 9 was won by Jinn with its dazzling pink spinnaker, Race 10 saw Witchcraft emerge victorious and Intrigue, another ABC contender, claimed the top spot in Race 11.
